Gary was speaking with another coach owner while in Tampa Florida. The other coach owner was traveling down I-75 when a steel fence post fell off of the truck traveling in front of them. The post bounced once and then struck the shield on the front of their coach, leaving a ¾” deep gouge in the polycarbonate shield.

When the police officer arrived and surveyed the situation, he noted that the passenger, the coach owner’s granddaughter, was lucky that the coach was fitted with the shield. Why? He stated that given the way the angle of the 2-1/2” diameter pipe was impaled in the shield, the pipe would have easily pierced the fiberglass cap and struck the person in the passenger seat without the armor. Needless to say, the coach owner promptly purchased a new shield to replace the damaged unit.

"Fortunately there are some manufacturers who rise above the frequent "who cares" attitude of too many others. One such is Summit Products, Inc.
"We have Summit's Body Block (stone/bug shield) installed on the front of our coach but several problems arose due to it having been installed such that it could catch on the pavement under certain circumstances. A call to Albert at the company explaining the problem led to immediately being invited to stop at the factory for corrective action.
"Upon stopping at the factory our coach was immediately taken in, the shield removed and several inches cut off. The shortened material
was then finished off just like new, and updated supports and spacers installed at no additional cost.
"Let me add that I have been in many factories and places of business over the years. This one was one of the cleanest and neatest I have ever observed. The entire attitude seems to be one of putting out first-class product in a first-class manner."

Had the clear "invis-a-shield" applied to our Blue Bird 2 years ago. $1200.00 Definitely not worth it. Maybe you can blame the installer but - The edges start to peel and blister. Any scratches or dirt on unit prior to application are there permanetly. Love bugs reck havic. Paint shops say it is a real nightmare if you want work done in the future. At least with a vinyl bra you can remove it or replace it.
